A lot of the talk last week surrounding the US U-20 national squad in their World Cup matches in Turkey was why head coach Tab Ramos elected not to bring FC Dallas rookie defender Walker Zimmerman. The rookie had been carrying some injuries so Ramos did what he had to do, and left the young defender off his roster.

Well, the loss to Spain spoke for itself and while the US did better against France yesterday in the 1-1 draw there was still a ponder from some as to how things would have been with Zimmerman on the team.

For Dallas fans it doesn’t matter. Zimmerman came into their game over the weekend with Sporting KC as a halftime sub for the injured Matt Hedges. Zimmerman quickly made an impact on the game and eventually put himself into good spots on free kicks when Dallas was charging for a goal in the late stages of the game. His good positioning got him on the end of a David Ferreira free kick in the 88th minute to tie the game at two goals apiece.
